Bugstop Automotive was opened in 1984 as a Volkswagen Specialist and Speed & Customs Shop. Bugstop started with a small Parts and Accessory Store and as we began to take flight, we hosted the first-ever “Canadian VW Nationals”. This was an all-Volkswagen car show which drew an impressive 84 cars to the one-day event. This car show later grew to include drag racing at Grand Bend Motorplex with hundreds of cars participating from across Canada and the U.S.. Our primary focus was fabricating dune buggies, engine builds, drag racing, and the sale of speed and custom parts. General Service was then a secondary focus. As time went on and Bugstop continued to grow, so did our need for more Technicians, more square footage, and the need to shift our focus from a Speed & Customs Shop to General Service, making Bugstop what it is today, a full-service Volkswagen Specialty Shop covering over 4000 sq. ft. and employing four Government Certified Technicians.

We may no longer do the custom work as we have in the past, but we will always have a passion for Volkswagens. Our service department caters to all makes: import and domestic, with the most up-to-date technical information at our fingertips. We continue to provide general service and support the do-it-yourselfers with our large selection of parts in stock and with speedy delivery from our warehouse facility. Our comfortable lounge area is furnished with a beverage bar, satellite television, and Wifi.
