Bugstop Automotive opened its doors in 1984 as a Volkswagen specialist and speed and customs shop. What started as a small parts and accessory store quickly became a gathering place for Volkswagen enthusiasts. That same year, we hosted the first-ever “Canadian VW Nationals”, an event that grew from 84 cars to hundreds, with drag racing at Grand Bend Motorplex. In those early years, our passion was building dune buggies, engines, and custom performance cars. The shop became known for hands-on craftsmanship, experimentation, and a deep connection to the Volkswagen community, forming the foundation of the expertise that defines Bugstop today. Although we don't work on vintage cars anymore, this has played a big part in shaping who we are now.

Led by a father-and-son team, Bugstop continues to combine decades of hands-on experience with modern tools and technology. While our roots are firmly planted in Volkswagen, our expertise has naturally expanded to include Audi, allowing us to specialize in the engineering, systems, and performance these vehicles are known for. We focus on accurate diagnostics, preventative maintenance, and performance upgrades that are tailored to how these vehicles are designed to operate.
